Task E- Activities and presentation of the technical results and deliverables
The planned and actual activities are in accordance with each other. The meeting was rather short and efficient.
In general we have four main packages of deliverables.
1. Planning meeting
2. Questionnaire and Workshop 1
3. Workshop 2 and simulations of forest fire
4. Workshop 3 and final document
The purpose was to plan the project and develop a working method. The core group agreed on the developed plan and decided dates for the projects activities. Notes from the meeting and the time schedule have been disseminated.
Questionnaire and Workshop 1
A questionnaire was sent out to map the existing forest fire danger risk system in participating countries. The purpose was to have knowledge of existing system and possibilities to develop a common system in Baltic Sea area and what demands the core group has on a possible new system. The questionnaire and Workshop 1 gave a good overview of existing system, how they are used and the demands on a common system. Added values are better knowledge of forest fire situation. Documents (notes, replays, Power points) have been produced and sent to CBSS.
Workshop 2 and simulations of forest fire
The report from the questionnaire was presented and discussed. Demonstrations of two simulation models were showed in Workshop 2. There was a discussion on the results and possible use of simulation models. The limited resources resulted in only that we only simulated one fire in two different models. It is necessary to inventory more models to have a better overview of possible system. The project had used fewer examples for historical forest fires as was planned initial. We saw a need of common data as historical forest fire records, meteorological data, vegetation mapping and classification, common geographical data, etc. Documents (notes, Power point presentations, report) have been produced and sent to CBSS.
Workshop 3 and final document
Finally the different activities result were analyzed and discussion about possible recommendations from the core group.
